SUSTAINABLE WATERSHED MANAGEMENT IN CAGAYAN DE ORO

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region X Executive Director Henry Adornado discusses the strategies and best practices on sustainable watershed management for the Cagayan de Oro River Basin (CDORB) during the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau’s Congress on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Watershed Management through Ecosystem-Based Approaches in the Asia-Pacific Region held in Muntinlupa City. Adornado shared that among the interventions being implemented by the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Management Council for the CDORB are nature-based solutions including Protected Area Management and Wildlife Protection and Conservation; Rehabilitation Projects such as the Community-based Forest Management and the Macajalar Bay Integrated Coastal Management; Climate and Disaster-Risk Resilience including the Characterization and Vulnerability Assessment of the Cagayan de Oro River Watershed, and ENR partnerships. ###
