Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy A. The diorama was on display at the exhibit area set up for the R & D Congress on Sustainable Urbanization in the Course of ASEAN Economic Integration at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza. The event, organized by the DENR through the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau, forms part of several activities lined up for the Philippine hosting of ASEAN 2017, which coincides with the 50th year celebration of the ASEAN region. Joining the Secretary are other DENR officials.

Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu keynotes the 2nd day of the First ASEAN Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Summit held June 30, 2017 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.  With theme, Strengthening Partnerships for Greener Transport in ASEAN and Beyond, around 600 industry players and stakeholders from ASEAN member states participated in the event, held in consonance with the celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of the ASEAN, which the Philippine government is proudly hosting.  The event, says Cimatu, seeks to further promote electric vehicles and hybrids towards the electrification of the ASEAN transport sector. ###

(MMC) to signify the turnover of five units of Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle (i-MiEV) and five units of Outlander plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). The ceremonial turnover held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City marked the opening of the 1st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Summit in Manila from June 29 to 30. Joining Undersecretary Leones are Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Service Director Edwin G. Domingo (extreme left) and Foreign Assisted and Special Projects Assistant Secretary Rommel R. Abesamis (2nd from left) both of the DENR. Electric vehicles produce less carbon emissions than conventional cars and can help reduce air pollution in the country. ###

Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu calls on members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to achieve economic growth without compromising the environment during the opening of the Research and Development Congress on Sustainable Urbanization in the Course of ASEAN Economic Integration held Tuesday at the Sofitel Hotel in Manila.  The congress, consistent with the celebration of the ASEAN50 chaired by the Philippines, gathered R & D practitioners from different research institutions, academe and private sector from member countries, including partners from South Korea, Australia and China. ###

Cimatu commits to prioritizing the rehabilitation of water bodies that have significant potential in contributing to the local economy during the 2017 Water Quality Management Area Summit held Wednesday at the  Hotel H2O in Manila. He particularly cited Malandog River in Antique province as initial site of the DENR's Sustainable Rivers Action and Conservation Program. The river was chosen for its strong socio-cultural and historical importance to the people of Antique and the whole Panay Island. ###
