MGB-V congratulates RRPP for winning AREA-SEA 2012 award.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Bicol (MGB-V) congratulates the management of the Rapu-Rapu Polymetallic Project for winning the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award, South East Asia (AREA-SEA) 2012.

MGB-V Regional Director Engr. Theodore Rommel E. Pestaño said in his letter to Rapu-Rapu Minerals Incorporated (RRMI) President Rogelio Corpus that the agency was “extremely honored to extend its warmest congratulations to the company for winning its first international award.” He also cited the company for its recent achievement in completing 10 million man-hours without lost time accident.

“Indeed, these two achievements proved RRMI’s commitment to best practices in mining and as vanguards of responsible mining” Pestaño said. 

An online article on the AREA-SEA 2012 indicated that there were 24 companies from the Southeast Asia to have been recognized with Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards, an annual event that gives recognition to Asian businesses for championing sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship.

Of the 24, three were based in the Philippines, namely Globe Telecom, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) and RRMI.  Accordingly, Globe Telecom and RRMI were cited under the Social Empowerment Category, while RCBC under the Green Leadership Category.
