MESSAGE Welcome to the new and enhanced website of the DENR! We have improved our website by installing features that make it more informative, responsive and participatory. One distinct feature is the installation of the portal that invites visitors to glimpse at the country's diverse natural treasures. Upon entering the homepage or main site, visitors are offered a variety of components to browse, such as the latest news and feature stories, updates on our regional offices' operations, announcement of environmental events for the month, an interactive trivia section for kids, and a display of bidding invitations and procurement results. Should you wish to know more about our mandate, history, thrusts, accomplishments, and special programs, simply click About Us. To know the extent of our organization, go to DENR Offices. If you want to know about a certain law or policy on environment, click the menu on Laws and Policies. Transparency and governance contains citizen's charter, the code of conduct and ethical standards of DENR employees and the process flow that covers permitting procedures of DENR. Visitors are encouraged to post their comments by clicking Feedback. Another new feature is the e-Library, which facilitates research for information and data useful to environmental managers, planners, scholars, and the general public. It offers a list of book collections, news clippings, and an array of information, education and communication materials. The website was made more interactive, a testament that the Department attempts to keep apace with rapid developments in information and communication technology (ICT), making it more interesting and user-friendly to visitors. We also made some refinements on the site's layout design to make it more readable and engaging. We have always maintained that the DENR's mission is to mobilize our citizenry to help us in protecting, conserving and managing our environment and natural resources. Through this website, we hope to achieve a great amount of mobilization by increasing people's awareness on the state of our environment and the myriad of things they can do to help. Hence, our website is designed to allow more people to practice environmental citizenship. Accordingly, I urge visitors and users of our website to explore its features productively. RAMON J.P.
